Gabriel Diallo shocked third seed Karen Khachanov to ensure he will crack the world’s top 50 for the first time.

The Canadian defeated the Russian 7-6 6-4 to reach the last four where he will meet Ugo Humbert.

The French second seed was in magnificent form as he crushed Nuno Borges 6-1 6-4 to return to the semi-finals for the second year in a row.

The world number 20 has yet to drop a set and is showing a real pedigree on grass, which could bode well for another solid run at Wimbledon in the weeks ahead.

This is Diallo’s break-out tournament on the grass, which isn’t surprising given his weapons suit the surface, but he may well come up short in this one with Humbert a good shout for the title this year.
