Gabriel Diallo’s losing run extended to five matches at Queen’s Club as he was defeated by top seed Alex de Minaur. He did open up a 4-2 lead in the first set and had two set points in the tiebreak, but would still go on to lose. His title defence at the Libema Open also ended at the earliest possible hurdle after losing to Adrian Mannarino in three sets. This contributed to Diallo’s ranking dropping to 84.
He faces Terence Atmane in round one. The Frenchman notched up a win in the first-round of the Halle Open last week but was then defeated by 2021 US Open champion Daniil Medvedev in the round-of-16. Atmane is also in poor form, with six defeats from his last seven matches. He is ranked just outside the top 50 in the world.
