Gabriel Diallo vs Matteo Gigante prediction

Gabriel Diallo competed in Washington last week, defeating Fabian Marozsan in straight sets but then being on the end of a defeat against Ben Shelton. Diallo picked up his first ever tour-level title at the Libema Open on grass and made the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open but his record on hard courts is not as strong, with no deep run on the surface yet in 2025.

He will go up against Matteo Gigante in the second-round after receivng a bye. Gigante made sure Borna Coric’s return from injury was an unsuccessful one as he came from a set down to defeat the Croatian 4-6 6-2 7-6. This was his third win at a Masters event this year.

This will be the first ATP match between the pair, but they’ve played each other twice before on the Challenger Tour, with the head-to-head locked at 1-1, though Diallo leads 1-0 on hard courts. He beat Gigante 7-6 6-2 in the quarter-finals of a Challenger in Canberra early last year.

The Canadian is steadily improving as the year goes on and is now at 36 in the world rankings. He will be a clear favourite to win against Gigante.
