Gabriel Diallo vs Hamad Medjedovic prediction
Gabriel Diallo was handed a walkover in the last round as his opponent Nishesh Basavareddy withdrew before the match. He last competed in Cincinnati, reaching the third-round where he lost to Jannik Sinner despite having a set point to take the contest into a decider.
He will face Hamad Medjedovic in the round-of-16. Medjedovic defeated Great Britain’s Jacob Fearnley in the second-round to advance. He did not face a break point on serve in the first set as he broke the Briton early on to take the lead. Fearnley hit back with a break of his own and served for the set at 5-3, only for Medjedovic to break again and dominate the tiebreak to win in straight sets.
Diallo will be the favourite here but should be wary of the threat that Medjedovic poses. The 22-year-old has looked very solid on his return from injury, with four wins from his five matches, and is very capable of pushing the Canadian all the way.
