Gabriel Diallo vs Alex de Minaur prediction
Gabriel Diallo registered his first win against Tallon Griekspoor as he cruised to a comfortable straight sets victory. The Canadian had lost their two previous matches at Roland Garros and the Mallorca Championships this year, but Diallo was not broken on serve here as he wrapped up a 6-3 6-4 win after one hour and 11 minutes.
He now takes on Alex De Minaur, who is seeded sixth for the tournament. He kept up his remarkably consistent form in Vienna as he got through to the semi-finals, but he was beaten by Jannik Sinner for the 12th time in succession, despite fighting back in the second set. The world number six has won 53 matches this season, his largest number of wins in a single campaign.
De Minaur leads the head-to-head 1-0 after a straight sets victory in the second-round of the Canadian Open in 2023, with the Australian going on to make the final of the event that year. The Australian is such a relentless competitor and he should be able to absorb the Canadian’s power during the rally exchanges, while also counterpunching to flip points in his favour.
