Francisco Comesana vs Valentin Royer prediction
Francisco Comesana could not get off to a strong start in Hong Kong as he lost to Juncheng Shang in the first-round. The Argentine struggled to make an impact in the match, losing 6-4 6-4 and only creating one break point opportunity. Comesana is usually most suited to clay courts, though he did excel at the Cincinnati Open last year, making the round-of-16.
Valentin Royer is his opponent in Auckland. He was also on the end of a first-round defeat in Hong Kong as he lost to Tomas Martin Etcheverry. Royer lost the first set but broke at the start of the second to race to a 3-0 lead. However, he relinquished his advantage and went on to lose in straight sets. Royer shone towards the end of last season, making his first ever ATP final in Hangzhou.
Comesana is unconvincing on this surface and Royer will be aiming to get his first win of the season here. The Frenchman should create enough opportunities to get over the line.
