Francisco Comesana vs Luciano Darderi prediction
Francisco Comesana advanced to the second-round of the French Open after a straight sets win over Ethan Quinn. The Argentine comfortably led after the first set but had to save a set point in the second as he edged ahead following a closely contested tiebreak. Quinn went a break up in the third but Comesana got back on level terms and won another breaker to clinch a 6-4 7-6 (8) 7-6 (4) win.
He now takes on Luciano Darderi. The Italian failed to serve out the first set but still went ahead after the tiebreak, and he largely dominated the next two sets to win 7-6 (2) 6-2 6-3 after two hours and 19 minutes. Darderi advanced to the semi-finals of a Masters event for the first time at the Italian Open earlier this month.
Comesana can be effective on clay, but he has really struggled in terms of form this season. Darderi may be challenged at times, but he is the clear favourite to make it through to round three.
