The world number 71 will now face Andrey Rublev for the second time after the ninth seed came from behind to edge Alexei Popyrin 6-7 7-6 7-5 in a thrilling contest. 

The Russian’s tournament has had a sub-plot of revenge to it so far and it may do again here as he trails Comesana 1-0 in the head-to-head having lost in four sets at Wimbledon last year. 

The South American has shown grit alongside some excellent serving to enjoy a solid run here, but Rublev has done the same and if the ninth seed’s forehand fires like we know it can, he has the top trump in this match-up.
