Francesca Jones vs McCartney Kessler prediction

Francesca Jones was just one match away from making her main draw debut at the French Open but lost in the final stage of qualifying to Anastasiya Soboleva in three sets. Jones is continuing to improve, with her best finish this season being a semi-final appearance at a 125 event in Cancun during the middle of February.

She begins her grass court season against McCartney Kessler. The American played her first match at Roland Garros but couldn’t reach the second-round as she lost a tight two set match against Elena-Gabriela Ruse. She had an encouraging clay court season overall but has still failed to reach the heights she managed during the end of February, where she reeled off five straight victories at the Texas Open and then lost to Jessica Pegula in the final.

Both players lack experience on grass which makes this one tough to call but Kessler is ranked far higher, has the greater experience and should still be expected to make it through against the Briton.
