Valtteri Bottas edged Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton into pole position at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and he will hope to finish the job on race day. Bottas has endured a frustrating season with Hamilton getting the better of him for the majority of the campaign, the Finn managing just two wins compared to the Brit’s eight. Hamilton has won two races in a row and will fancy his chances of completing the hat-trick despite being behind on the grid and having performed so well of late, including surpassing the great Michael Schumacher’s record for all-time race wins – the confidence of Hamilton should see him go beyond his teammate here to claim a third straight win.
