THE PREDICTION
Reigning WSL champions and Champions League runners-up Chelsea begin their hunt for a third consecutive domestic league title away to local rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. It is all change for the Gunners, who have a new manager in Jonas Eidevall and will be hoping to provide a firm challenge to the Blues this season. However, when taking into account the glittering array of star power Chelsea have within their ranks, that won’t prove easy. Emma Hayes has moved to strengthen her squad even further this summer with the signings of Lauren James from Man Utd and Aniek Nouwen from Dutch outfit PSV. Sam Kerr and Fran Kirby represent a formidable attacking duo, but the Gunners themselves boast some serious firepower with Vivianne Miedema now joined by England international Nikita Parris, whilst Japanese star Mana Iwabuchi has been signed from Aston Villa. This should lead to a hugely entertaining affair in North London and both teams to score looks a shrewd move. In terms of the actual match outcome though, Chelsea have to be favoured to get off to a winning start.
