SALZBURG VS BRONDBY PREDICTION
Austrian champions Salzburg have reached the Champions League group stage in each of the past two seasons, a stark contrast to Brondby, who last played group stage football in the Champions League back in the 1998-99 season. However, after securing their first Danish Superliga title in 16 years Brondby are only a two-legged tie away from making history. Salzburg have made a great start to the 2021-22 campaign under new head coach Matthias Jaissle, winning their opening four Austrian Bundesliga fixtures, racking up 11 goals and conceding just twice. Whilst they have lost a number of key players such as striker Patson Daka and midfielder Enock Mwepu, the hosts are still a very strong outfit and Brondby will have to defend very well to keep this tie alive heading into the second leg in Denmark. Niels Frederiksen’s side travel to Austria on the back of successive defeats and without a win in their five Superliga games played thus far. Therefore, any result other than a Salzburg victory in this play-off round first leg would be seen as a big surprise.
