THE PREDICTION
A number of injuries to Barcelona’s frontline see Ronald Koeman’s squad not in the best of shape going into their opening Group E showdown with fellow European giants Bayern Munich. The reigning Bundesliga champions and 2019-20 Champions League winners meanwhile, have firmly hit their stride under new head coach Julian Nagelsmann having won their last five games in all competitions with their devastating potency in front of goal proving far too strong for each of their opponents. Those five victories have seen Bayern find the net a staggering 27 times, scoring a minimum of three goals in each match including most recently thrashing Nagelsmann’s old club RB Leipzig 1-4 away from home. Star striker Robert Lewandowski remains as hungry for goals as ever with six in his opening four league matches and it’s very difficult not to see the Bavarians finding the net at least once at Camp Nou. Despite home advantage being in Barcelona’s favour, their defence are likely to find it very difficult to stand up to such a force going forward and when factoring in the absences of Aguero, Dembele and Braithwaite in attack, it would be a surprise if they were to outscore the visitors. Therefore, the shrewd move looks to be backing Bayern Munich to win on the double chance market.
TIP: DOUBLE CHANCE - BAYERN MUNICH OR DRAW
