Atletico Madrid and FC Porto both build their sides on the foundations of a strong backline and Porto in particular will need to be at their very best defensively against Diego Simeone’s side. Last season, Atletico only managed one win from their three home Group Stage fixtures and they’ll be well aware that this must be improved upon this time round. Porto are expected to sit in and make themselves as difficult as possible to break down, however Atletico are set to unleash forward Antoine Griezmann for the second time following his return to the club on loan from Barcelona. A partnership of Griezmann and striker Luis Suarez should have enough potency between them to help the hosts breach a stubborn Porto backline and ultimately lead them to a narrow victory.
