THE PREDICTION

Two successive defeats leave Besiktas hanging onto top spot in the Turkish Super Lig by a thread heading into the final round of fixtures. Now level on points with second-placed Galatasaray, victory away at Goztepe S.K. would secure Sergen Yalçın’s the title providing that Galatasaray don’t win their match at home to Yeni Malatyaspor and overhaul a -2 goal difference which currently separates the two big rivals. This will come down to bottle for Besiktas, as they clearly boast the superior players to Goztepe from an all-round ability perspective, although their mental nerve will come under severe question following their losses to both Galatasaray and Fatih Karagumruk. Ultimately, the quality and desperation of Besiktas should be enough for them to edge that all-important three points at Göztepe Gürsel Aksel Stadi. However, the visitors are not expected to win this match by a high margin and therefore all eyes will be on whether Galatasaray can beat Yeni Malatyaspor by a big enough margin to steal the title from under Besiktas’ noses.
