THE PREDICTION
This should be a really exciting, really intriguing one. Rayo’s impressive run of form has been extended to six straight wins, in all competitions, now following a 2-0 win in midweek at Mirandes and a victory over Elche in the Copa Del Rey in order to reach the Last 16. That impressive run, combined with Mallorca’s blip, has meant that the gap between the two sides has been cut from 13 points to just five over the last three league fixtures. Mallorca’s dip has been two league defeats, a draw and a cup defeat on penalties since mid-December. It means the Balearic Islanders have relinquished top spot and complete control. Their 1-0 home defeat to Las Palmas will be the most worrying as it was the first game they hadn’t scored in nine games. Given that will be looked at as an anomaly and Rayo’s impressive form; both teams to score looks a solid bet.
