Real Sociedad come into this on the back of a comfortable 2-0 win against Atletico Madrid in the Round of 16 of the Copa del Rey. La Real won the 2019/20 Copa del Rey, defeating their Basque rivals Athletic in the final in April 2021 but they have been quite stodgy and inconsistent in La Liga since they started the season well.
