THE PREDICTION
Athletic Club come into this on the back of a 1-0 victory over Alaves in a Basque derby prior to the international break. They have lost just once all season and have a game in hand on teams above them as they sit inside the top-half ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures. Villarreal suffered their first defeat of the Liga season last week as they lost late on to a Chimy Avila goal for Osasuna at home, as Unai Emery made a few changes ahead of their crucial UEFA Champions League group stage match against Young Boys. Only two teams have drawn more often than Athletic this season and one of those is Villarreal. The visitors simply draw too many matches, just like they did last season, and it holding them back from a serious top four challenge, let alone ambitions for the title. They drew 1-1 in both matches last season so another draw seems a very likely result.
