THE PREDICTION
Sevilla were tipped as an outside shot for the title at the beginning of 2020/21 with both Clasico giants in some difficulty and they came in off the back of their sixth Europa League triumph of this century. However, a winless October and lacklustre attack has left them in 12th position having scored just seven goals in their opening seven matches; three of those coming in their opening day victory at Cadiz. Last season’s star man Lucas Ocampos has often looked tired this season but did come to life prior to the international break with an assist in a 2-1 defeat in Bilbao before notching the winner at home to Osasuna a week later. The Andalusians will be up against one of La Liga’s biggest underperformers in recent years in Celta Vigo. Celestes’ over-reliance on Iago Aspas has been a perennial embarrassment for a team that reached both the Copa del Rey and Europa League semi finals’ in 2017. Since that season, Celta have finished 13th, 17th and 17th. Aspas has contributed 56 of the club’s 149 league goals in those seasons. He is their top scorer this season with four, two others have one goal and that is it for the Galicians. They lie 17th without a win in seven and just one point off bottom club Huesca. Their squad boasts several talented and internationally capped players such as Nestor Araujo, Okay Yokuslu, Denis Suarez, Nolito, Emre Mor, Santi Mina and Jeison Murillo but their over-reliance on Aspas remains. Despite Sevilla’s patchy start to the season, Julen Lopetegui will hope this game will signal the beginning of a run towards the higher end of the table.
