THE PREDICTION
La Real have been joyous this season. A refreshing approach led by a core of young players such as Mikel Oyarzabal, Mikel Merino and Igor Zubeldia. However, the irrepressible brilliance of David Silva has emphasised his status and ability. Silva is a major doubt to feature. He didn’t play in the Europa League, as expected, and it is unlikely he will make the lineup for this match. They come up against another side performing relatively well. Villarreal have begun the season with solid results but a lack of enterprise and bravery has perhaps cost them extra points. None more so than in their 1-1 draw at home to Real Madrid last weekend in which Emery’s caution allowed Madrid to escape with a point. In summary, the lack of Sociedad’s creative spark as well as generally defensive outlook from Villarreal on top of both sides coming into this game after playing in the Europa League would lead to the conclusion that this one might be a fairly tight, low-scoring encounter in which both sides will be happy to not lose.
