THE PREDICTION
Both sides have things to play for; one ‘thing’ is arguably more important than the other. If Atletico drop points then a Real Madrid win would see them win the title whilst if one of Real Sociedad or Real Betis drop points then a Villarreal victory would see them finish in the Europa League rather than the Europa Conference League. However, Villarreal could still qualify for the Champions League by defeating Manchester United in the Europa League final on Wednesday night and given that the Yellow Submarine have qualified for European competition regardless of the result of this match so Unai Emery could well be tempted to rotate in this match. Real Madrid have often won the clutch moments throughout Zinedine Zidane’s two spells at the club and, given that aforementioned potential rotation for the visitors, they will come into this as the favourites.
