THE PREDICTION
Manuel Pellegrini’s reign so far at Betis has been one of inconsistency and traditional tactics; quite attacking but no real legitimate patterns of structure with a leaky defence. Their 2021 has been really impressive though. Three straight victories and a good draw against a potentially title challenging Sevilla. Two of those wins, admittedly, have been cup victories against Mutilvera and Sporting Gijon. They come up against a Celta side who have been fascinating since the appointment of Eduardo Coudet in late November. Their profligacy had become a ruthless efficiency and intensity that brought results; however, they have conceded 11 goals in 2021 in just three games including a 5-2 defeat to Ibiza in the cup and a 4-0 shellacking to Villarreal at home. The mitigating factors would be that Villarreal were absolutely superb in that victory and the Ibiza defeat is not the only cup upset and not the only thrashing upset either. What is certain about Celta in the last couple of months, similarly to Betis, is lots of goals for and against. Both teams to score and over 2.5 should be a reasonable bet for this probably entertaining game.
