THE PREDICTION
Elche’s 2021 began with a 1-0 defeat at Athletic Club. It extended their winless run to ten games and that run has meant they have slipped into the relegation zone but with a couple of games in hand on Valencia in 17th. In those ten games, they have only lost by more than one goal on two occasions; one in an unfortunate defeat at Atletico and one against a ruthless Betis side. Aside from that, they have drawn five and lost by a goal on three occasions. It remains tight. Getafe are being dragged into an unlikely relegation battle alongside Elche. In fact, a home win would see Elche leap-frog Getafe in the Liga table. Bordalas’ philosophy is built on fine margins - much like Elche’s form - but those fine margins that have gone for them in recent seasons are going against them this season. A draw, a low-scoring draw at that, seems a solid bet.
