THE PREDICTION
Alaves’ season so far has been defined by an inability to replace key loanees from last season. Victor Camarasa, Lisandro Magallan, Aleix Vidal, Roberto, Ljubomir Fejsa and Oli Burke all departed without much, if anything, coming in. However, they will benefit from the return of former Aston Villa midfielder Jota who has completed his suspension for a red card against Barcelona. The attacking midfielder was influential in Alaves’ 2-0 away victory at Real Valladolid and has made an instant impact in the three games since his arrival. Valencia have been the most baffling club of all so far this season. Their off-the-field shenanigans at the start of the season involved the cut-price sales of captain Dani Parejo, Francis Coquelin, Ferran Torres, Rodrigo, Cristiano Piccini and Geoffrey Kondogbia. However, the work of impressive head coach Javi Gracia has meant that Los Che have collected enough points to avoid complete embarrassment on the pitch as well as off it. Despite being set up to fail and voicing his discontent early on in the season, Gracia has Valencia level on points with Barcelona and has overseen victories over city rivals Levante, league leaders Real Sociedad and Real Madrid. Seven of Valencia’s nine Liga games so far this season have seen both teams score whilst Alaves are off the back of two 1-1 draws so consider that market here.
