THE PREDICTION
The home side come into this on the back of a 0-0 draw away to Getafe. That point, albeit reasonable, has extended their winless run to five in all competitions - they haven’t won in the league since last year. However, the positive for Alaves will be that the clean sheet against Getafe is a stark improvement on their recent defensive performances in which they’d conceded 14 goals in four games. Their opponents, Real Valladolid, fell to a bad defeat against a Huesca side who have been consistently good without results and now they are getting results. Valladolid’s 3-1 home loss means it is now 11 conceded in their last four. It is also now seven games without a clean sheet after back-to-back shut-outs in late December. Alaves needed to tighten up whilst Valladolid now need tighten up; therefore, a low-scoring game could be in prospect.
