THE PREDICTION
Alaves’ 4-0 thumping away to Real Sociedad last weekend backed up a 5-1 defeat away to Barcelona the weekend before. Those two results have contributed to a woeful defence in 2021. They have played 10 games in all competitions and have conceded 25 goals; that run includes five games whereby they’ve conceded three or more goals. Their opponents, Osasuna, come into this on the back of a 2-0 defeat to Sevilla which is no reason to cause shame. Prior to that, they defeated a heavily rotated Levante as they have begun to pick up points in January and February. Alaves have proved an ability to be resilient against weaker sides, their back-to-back clean sheets against Valladolid and Getafe a fortnight ago showed that, whilst Osasuna have only conceded more than one goal in a game twice in thirteen matches. Therefore, under 2.5 goals seems likely.
