THE PREDICTION
Athletic come into this on the back of a goalless draw against Real Betis which is a continuation of their slight fizzling out. Marcelino’s tenure began with a five-goal thriller against Barcelona to start a run that saw them pick up Supercopa silverware and reach this season’s Copa del Rey final whilst thrusting them into the top-half. However, three 0-0 draws and two 1-1 draws in their last six matches in La Liga is fairly dull. They come up against an Atletico side that are on the back of a midweek clash against Huesca which followed up that uncharacteristic demolition of Eibar. Atletico are stereotypically overly-defensive, so, given the home team’s recent form; under 2.5 goals seems a strong bet for this one.
