Mamelodi Sundowns come into this on the back of a 1-1 draw away to Golden Arrows in the first-leg of their MTN8 Cup semi-final. That followed a goalless draw with Chippa United and a 1-0 win over AmaZulu to kick off their new season. The reigning champions come up against the losing finalists of last season’s CAF Champions League in Kaizer Chiefs; it, therefore, is a big game this weekend. The visitors have started with four points from two games themselves. Sundowns defeated the Chiefs on penalties in the MTN8 Cup quarter-final and that result will likely be replicated here given the relatively evenly matched nature of the two teams, at this early stage.
