Ross County escaped what looked at many stages of last season like almost certain relegation with three straight wins back in May. Just two defeats from their last six games in the relegation play-off round was mightily impressive and new manager Malky Mackay has been brought in to build on that this season, though they look set to struggle if they cannot improve quickly. Travelling St. Johnstone enjoyed a historic year away from the Scottish Premiership as they beat Livingston and then Hibernian to win the Scottish League Cup and FA Cup, respectively. Manager Callum Davidson received plenty of plaudits for a most unlikely double and he will be aiming to build on that with St. Johnstone as they finished in fifth place last season. The first day back is a tough result to call with confidence here but double chance in favour of the away side should come through.
