Steven Gerrard is in a bit of a pickle with his side ahead of this weekend’s Old Firm. Rangers were without himself and several key players for their second-leg of their UEFA Europa League playoffs tie against Alashkert in Armenia on Thursday. It is still as yet unknown as to whether Gerrard and a group that includes Allan McGregor, Ryan Kent and James Tavernier will be available to play at Ibrox against Ange Postecoglu’s Celtic side that have been in enthralling form. They lost their second-leg of their Europa League tie to AZ Alkmaar on Sunday but have managed to score 15 goals in three games since their opening day league defeat to Hearts in late July. Their ten games in all competitions this season has consisted of a total of 39 goals. Given Rangers’ issues at the back they could well have an emphasis on attack at home so both teams scoring seems a likely outcome.
