Ricardo Soares’ Estoril have endured a really difficult 2022/23 Primeira Liga campaign. They finished in the top-half of the table last season, after being promoted back to the top-flight in 2021. That will not be the case this time around.
The home team come into this on the back of a 2-2 draw with mid-table and similarly out of form Casa Pia in their most recent outing, last weekend. That was quite a dramatic and fun encounter with Estoril taking a 74th minute lead before the hosts scored an 85th minute and 96th minute penalty. However, Estoril earned a point with a 98th minute equaliser from centre-half Pedro Alvaro.
Estoril have improved in the last month or so as they manage to escape being dragged into the battle against the relegation playoff place, occupied by their upcoming opponents, with just one defeat in their last four matches.

The Funchal club from Madeira come into this final day of the campaign finally safe and secure for a few days yet after ensuring their place in the relegation playoffs at the end of the season.
Maritimo begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting third-from-bottom in the relegation playoff spot. They managed a slender 1-0 win at home to Vizela, last weekend, to mean they begin the final weekend sitting three points above Pacos de Ferreira. Due to their head-to-head record against Pacos de Ferreira, Maritimo are safe of automatic relegation.
Rotation could be the aim of this game for the visitors as they seek to prepare for their upcoming playoff which is set to be against an Estrela Amadora that have already begun resting and rotating themselves.
THE PREDICTION
These are two sides that have struggled throughout the 2022/23 campaign as they sit down towards the bottom end of the Primeira Liga table. Neither team will be pleased or proud of their efforts after 33 matches but, with one game left, both will be relieved for different reasons with Estoril assured of their top-flight status and Maritimo earning a chance to keep their status in the relegation playoff.
