Sporting CP have sealed their first Primeira Liga title in 19 years with two fixtures to spare after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Boavista maintained their eight-point lead at the top of the table. They travel to third-placed Benfica in celebratory mood, although the hosts will be desperate for three points as they look to overhaul a four-point gap between themselves and second-placed FC Porto that would see them qualify automatically for next season’s Champions League.
