The longest winning streak of all time in football has to be when Dresdner SC won all 23 matches during the 1942-43 season in Germany.
The National Uruguayan team won all 20 matches in the year before. The only other perfect streaks belong to Hamburg, who won 11 games in succession during 1927-28, and Hungary’s Ferencvaros, who won 23 games during the 1931-32 season.
In international football, France held the record till 2004 by consecutively winning 14 matches. At the same time, Brazil is the only team to win every single World Cup qualifying match along with the finals during the competition in 1970.
In England, Liverpool and Manchester City hold the record for both winning 18 consecutive matches. Man City won 18 matches between August and December 2017 and Liverpool won 18 matches between March and October 2019. Arsenal previously held the record at the EPL, winning 14 matches each between 2001-02 and 2002-03.
Going back in time, Manchester United won 14 Second Division matches in a row between 1904 and 1905, while Bristol City tied the record between 1905 and 1906. Preston North End is the only other team to win 14 Second Division matches consecutively during the 1950-51 season.
The longest unbeaten runs in football history
Celtic FC created a record for staying undefeated after 69 games in the Scottish Premier League in 2016 and 2017. Steaua Bucuresti holds the record for staying unbeaten for 119 matches between 1986 and 1989.
Between 2006 and 2008, FC Tiraspol Sheriff ruled Moldovan football by winning ten consecutive championships. The team, lead by Belarusian coach Leonid Kuchuk, became the first side to win the national trophy without losing a single match. The streak finally ended in 2008 at the hands of arch-rivals Zimbru.
Under the able leadership of Arrigo Sacchi, AC Milan were nicknamed Immortals after their stunning performance in the European Cup between 1989 and 1990.
