THE PREDICTION
Defending Liga MX champions Cruz Azul get their title defence underway against Mazatlan. The hosts looked good in their victory over Leon in their Campion de Campiones showdown last week and head into this one full of momentum and confidence. Mazatlan failed to finish inside the Liga MX top 12 last season and will be hoping for much better in this campaign under new boss Benat San Jose. However, when taking into account the quality of this Cruz Azul side, San Jose’s men face a very tough assignment at Estadio Azteca and the superiority of the hosts when it comes to the all-round ability within their squad should see Cruz Azul triumph fairly comfortably here, as long as they avoid any complacency.
