THE LOWDOWN

UDINESE

Udinese carried poor form from last season into this one but they have now made themselves difficult to beat since former Crawley Town manager, Gabriele Cioffi, returned to Udinese to replace Andrea Sottil. That said, though, they did suffer a 3-1 defeat to an improving Roma side at Stadio Olimpico, last weekend.

The Friulians have suffered just three defeats in their opening 13 matches with, remarkably, eight draws. That does mean only they and bottom-of-the-table Salernitana have won just one game and they have badly struggled for goals this season with just nine scored – only Empoli have managed fewer than that total.

HELLAS VERONA

After narrowly avoiding relegation with an end of season relegation playoff last season, Hellas Verona have struggled throughout this season but in fairly bizarre circumstances. Marco Baroni left Lecce and began the season with back-to-back victories – the last time that Verona achieved that, they went and won the league.

Instead of a title challenge, though, they have actually failed to win any of their next 11 matches with three draws and eight defeats as they begin the weekend sitting firmly in the bottom three and the relegation places. They have scored just nine goals this season, too, with only Empoli scoring fewer goals than Verona.

THE TEAM NEWS

HELLAS VERONA

Hellas Verona have no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues for this weekend’s trip to Udine so they could name an unchanged eleven for this one.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Montipo; Tchatchoua, Hien, Amione, Terracciano; Folorunsho, Duda; Ngonge, Suslov, Mboula; Duric

UNAVAILABLE: Magnani (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

There is a fairly obvious bet to go for this one and it is to back a low-scoring encounter with under 2.5 goals. Even with a managerial change, Udinese have remained one of the dullest teams to watch in Italy’s top-flight and they are very much focused on controlling their opposition; hence why they have had so many draws, too. Verona, rather than looking for control, are simply just not very good and this is not expected to be an entertaining encounter for the neutral.

BETTING TIP: UNDER 2.5 GOALS
