Salernitana begin the final six matches of the 2023/24 Serie A season sitting 12 points adrift of safety and they are very much simply awaiting their relegation back down to Serie B to be mathematically confirmed. Stefano Colantuono is their fourth manager of the campaign after the sackings of Paulo Sousa, Filippo Inzaghi and Fabio Liverani.

The home team come into this one on the back of being thrashed by four goals to one at the Stadio Olimpico in the capital city against Lazio in their most recent outing, last weekend. Felipe Anderson and Matias Vecino established an early 2-0 lead for Lazio before Junior Tchaouna pulled one back but Anderson completed a brace before a late Gustav Isaksen strike sealed the hammering.

Last season, Fiorentina were runners’ up in both the UEFA Europa Conference League and the Coppa Italia and they could well do that again, or maybe go a couple of steps further. Coached by Vincenzo Italiano, I Viola moved into the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League in midweek where they will face Club Brugge.

Their underwhelming performances continued over both legs against Viktoria Plzen with a goalless draw after 210 minutes before then edging past Viktoria on penalties. They are also currently 1-0 up against Atalanta in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia but they are winless in their last five Serie A matches.

There are a couple of missing players for Salernitana this weekend as midfielder Grigoris Kastanos is out injured, whilst Lassana Coulibaly is missing through suspension.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Costil; Gyomber, Boateng, Pirola; Zanoli, Vignato, Maggiore, Bradaric; Tchaouna, Candreva; Ikwuemesi

UNAVAILABLE: Coulibaly (Suspended), Kastanos (Injured)

Vincenzo Italiano is blessed with a fully fit and available squad for this weekend’s clash with Salernitana so he will be able to name an unchanged eleven.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Terracciano; Kayode, Martinez Quarta, Ranieri, Parisi; Bonaventura, Duncan; Ikone, Beltran, Sottil; Belotti

Whenever a team faces Salernitana, the way to bet is to go against them and back the opposition. However, they have shown some fight of late at least with their fourth manager of the campaign. They face a Fiorentina team that could well finish the season with European qualification and two trophies this season but their underwhelming form in Serie A means that, whilst they are still favourites, it is unlikely to be a convincing victory for the visitors.
