THE LOWDOWN

ROMA

Following the appointment of club legend of Daniele De Rossi in January, replacing Jose Mourinho typically setting fire to things in his third season in charge, Roma have been much-improved as they look set to finish tucked inside the top five, albeit just a couple of points ahead of Atalanta, and ensure UEFA Champions League.

The Giallorossi do, though, come into this one on the back of a 2-0 loss at home to Bayer Leverkusen at the Stadio Olimpico with goals coming from Florian Wirtz and Robert Andrich in the first-leg of their UEFA Europa League semi-final. Roma have now actually, quietly, managed just five victories in 11 matches across all competitions.

JUVENTUS

The second stint of Massimiliano Allegri in charge of Juventus appears to be coming to an end this summer with Bologna manager Thiago Motta heavily linked with the role in Turin. It has been an underwhelming return by Allegri but the Bianconeri were firmly involved in the Italian title race as late as late January.

However, the Old Lady’s 1-1 draw against Empoli and then defeat to Inter in the Derby d’Italia began something of a fairly major collapse. Juve have now managed just three victories in their last 13 matches across all competitions as they coast to the end of the Serie A season with their focus entirely on their Coppa Italia final against Atalanta later this month.

THE TEAM NEWS

ROMA

In the middle of a busy fixture list, Daniele De Rossi is blessed with a fully fit and available squad for this weekend’s visit of Juventus to the capital.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Svilar; Kristensen, Mancini, Ndicka, Spinazzola; Bove, Cristante, Pellegrini; Dybala, Azmoun, El Shaarawy

UNAVAILABLE:

QUESTIONABLE:

JUVENTUS

Nicolo Fagioli and Paul Pogba remain unavailable for Juventus due to non-footballing suspensions, whilst Mattia De Sciglio is an injury doubt for Allegri.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Szczesny; Gatti, Bremer, Danilo; Weah, Cambiaso, Locatelli, Rabiot, Kostic; Vlahovic, Yildiz

UNAVAILABLE: Fagioli (Suspended), Pogba (Suspended)

QUESTIONABLE: De Sciglio (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

About a month or so ago, there would have been an expectation that Roma would turn up and romp to victory against a lacklustre and disjointed Juventus side. The latter part of that statement does remain the case with Juve badly struggling for any sort of cohesion. However, Roma’s sticky run of form does make things slightly interesting. Having said that, backing a team like Juve with three wins in 13 away to a team looking to secure a top five spot would be quite foolish.

TIP: DOUBLE CHANCE – ROMA TO WIN OR DRAW
