THE PREDICTION
Wales host Mexico at the Cardiff City stadium in an international friendly just three days after their first World Cup Qualification match against Belgium. Wales assistant manager Rob Page, who is taking charge of the team in the absence of Ryan Giggs is expected to rotate his side here and give some significant minutes to players who did not feature from the start vs Belgium. This is Mexico’s first fixture since back in November 2020 when they beat Japan 0-2 in a friendly and when including friendly results, Mexico are unbeaten in their last ten fixtures, winning seven. However, they will be without their star striker for this one, with Raul Jimenez still absent after suffering a fractured skull in late November whilst playing for club side Wolves. This may lead to the visitors suffering from a lack of cutting edge in front of goal which could work in Wales’ favour. Although with the hosts expected to rest key players, they are likely to suffer themselves going forward which may lead to a dull affair here.
