THE PREDICTION

Netherlands suffered a surprise 4-2 defeat at the hands of Turkey in their first World Cup European Qualifier in Group G, with the pressure already firmly on for head coach Frank de Boer. The Netherlands boss has won just two of the seven games played under his stewardship so far and anything less than six points in their next two Group G fixtures would see him come under immense scrutiny. Latvia put up a valiant fight in their opening game, but were beaten 1-2 at home to Montenegro. On a bigger pitch at the Johan Cruijff Arena, Netherlands’ possession-based game should see the visitors chasing the ball through much of this match, which will have a huge effect on them physically. The home side will be expected to create a number of chances here, to show more ruthlessness in front of goal and ultimately to win this match by at least two clear goals.
