THE PREDICTION
After falling to a surprise 1-0 defeat at the hands of Slovenia in their opening Group H fixture, Croatia are already playing catch-up going into the second round of matches. Despite dominating possession, Zlatko Dalic’s side desperately lacked any sort of real cutting edge in front of goal and they must rectify this against Cyprus. The visitors will prove a tough nut to crack themselves however, having held Slovakia to a 0-0 draw in their first game in Group H. Another difficult contest looks on the cards for Croatia and they will need their star players such as Luka Modric and Ivan Perisic to come to the fore for them here. Wednesday’s defeat is likely to have lit a fire under the Croatian team and the hosts are expected to bounce back in Rijeka with an important three points here over Cyprus, who will surely find it too difficult physically to hold out for another goalless draw.
