THE PREDICTION
Having secured their spot in the UEFA Nations League finals last November, Belgium now turn their attention to World Cup qualification as they host Wales in their first Group E encounter. The visitors will once again be without manager Ryan Giggs who has been on “special leave” since November, with assistant manager Rob Page taking charge of the side for this match. Despite the absence of Giggs, Wales will believe they have the ability to pick up at least a point against the Belgians away from home, having not lost in their last 11 competitive fixtures. However, none of those games saw Wales face any opposition as strong as their opponents here and Roberto Martinez’s Belgium will provide a very difficult challenge. Star striker Romelu Lukaku may be missing for the hosts due to a Covid-19 outbreak at his club side, however Belgium have more than enough quality players in attack to make up for his potential absence. Providing the Belgian defence can keep Wales talisman Gareth Bale quiet, then they should have enough firepower within their side to overcome the visitors in Heverlee.
