THE PREDICTION
Ryan Joyce upset the odds with a victory against the reigning World Champion Peter Wright in round one, it was a well-deserved win too, as he produced a superb performance on the outer-ring and looked extremely comfortable on his Grand Prix debut. The Geordie admitted how much he likes the double start format and his imperious strike-rate on double 16 certainly backs up his comments. It has to be said though that Dave Chisnall’s display against Glen Durrant was even better than Joyce’s was against Wright - Chizzy finished the match with an average of 102.85 and he kicked-off with a score of 160 in four of the seven legs which left Duzza trailing in his wake. This match is made all the more intriguing by the fact that Joyce has beaten Chisnall in each of their last two meetings - which includes a thrilling 8-7 victory in the final of a ranking tournament in July - so the underdog will not fear the task ahead of him. Chisnall has a good record at the tournament though, with two final appearances to his name, and when he gets into a rhythm over this format he can be hard to stop. A 3-2 win for Chizzy is the prediction.
