THE PREDICTION
Andriy Shevchenko has had a very disruptive May ahead of his immediate preparations for Euro 2020. Ukraine were the first country to name a preliminary squad on April 30 but have since had to change that provisional group on five separate occasions due to extensions and withdrawals. The legendary former striker will have to work around the withdrawal of Yevhen Konoplyanka and Viktor Kovalenko in the last week which will be huge blows for a Ukraine team that have been improved in terms of personnel and results since their failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup. They come up against a Northern Ireland team that managed to collect their first victory under the management of Ian Barraclough inside 90 minutes with a 3-0 win over Malta in a game where individual moments of quality saw them past a side that edged possession and nearly the shot count. The Ukrainians will still have to experiment and the motivation may not be there with a 1-1 draw against Bahrain in May being an example of that. Given that, this could be a low-scoring encounter could be on the cards again.
