THE PREDICTION
The home team will likely use two friendlies against Oman and Tajikistan as preparation and an excuse to experiment ahead of their three World Cup qualifiers in 2022. Thailand maintain solid hopes of an unlikely progression into the third round of AFC qualification after the appointment of Japan’s 2018 World Cup coach Akira Nishino. Nishino took Japan to the knockout stages and they were 2-0 up against Belgium in the round of 16 before collapsing to defeat but it was a fairly impressive but short tenure. They come up against an Oman side that are pretty much guaranteed to make the third round of qualification. The last three matches between these sides have seen the home team win to nil with Oman winning twice and Thailand winning one. Given that it is likely to be treated experimentally, backing goals could be a good bet for this.
