THE PREDICTION

After a trophy laden two seasons at Austrian Bundesliga champions RB Salzburg, Jesse Marsch is ready to test himself in the German Bundesliga, succeeding Julian Nagelsmann at RB Leipzig. In a bid to overhaul Nagelsmann’s Bayern Munich this season, Leipzig have signed Eintracht Frankfurt striker Andre Silva, fresh from netting 28 league goals in 2020-21. Supplied by the likes of Sabitzer and Forsberg in midfield, Silva will no doubt be afforded plenty of chances to get on the scoresheet here against a team whose preparation for this match has been hugely disrupted due to an outbreak of Covid-19 and such firepower is likely to overwhelm this Mainz defence. The hosts however, can take confidence from the fact that Leipzig’s defence has been forced into some big changes following the departures of both Dayot Upamecano and Ibrahima Konate and with that backline likely needing time to gel together as a unit, Mainz could well take full advantage here at MEWA ARENA. Back both teams to score in this one, alongside an away win.
