THE LOWDOWN

DARMSTADT

It was all going so well for Darmstadt against Bayern Munich last Saturday, especially after the champions were reduced to ten men early on. But it all started going wrong for the newly promoted side when two of their own players were dismissed, Klaus Gjasula and Matej Maglica each given their marching orders. Although Darmstadt managed to reach half-time with the scores level, from then on things dramatically collapsed.

A ruthless, relentless Bayern put the visitors to the sword in a destructive second half display, racking up eight goals without reply. Harry Kane bagged another hat-trick, including a goal from the half-way-line, whilst Leroy Sane and Jamal Musiala helped themselves to braces, Thomas Muller scoring the other goal. The result leaves Darmstadt 14th-place with the worst goal difference in the Bundesliga.

BOCHUM

Although Bochum have shown significant levels of improvement in recent games, they remain without a win this season in the Bundesliga, with all five of their points accrued coming from draws. Having said that, Bochum will be kicking themselves that their first victory didn’t come last weekend at home to Mainz. Twice they were pegged back, the second equaliser coming in the 96th minute to break Bochum hearts and frustrate supporters further.

Like Darmstadt, Bochum know how it feels to be on the end of a hammering away at Bayern Munich and will be hoping to take advantage of the confidence blow such a defeat may have served the hosts. Whilst their attacking potency has improved recently, now their task is to tighten up at the back, which they showed against RB Leipzig that they are more than capable of.

THE TEAM NEWS

DARMSTADT

Following their red cards away in Munich, both Gjasula and Maglica will miss out here through suspension, forcing boss Torsten Lieberknecht to shuffle his pack in defence. The likes of Christoph Zimmermann and Jannik Muller are likely to slot into the Darmstadt backline, whilst Fabian Holland is expected to return to the starting line-up following a suspension of his own.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Schuhen; Klarer, Zimmermann, Muller; Bader, Mehlem, Holland, Kempe, Nurnberger; Pfeiffer, Skarke

UNAVAILABLE: Gjasula (Suspended), Maglica (Suspended)

QUESTIONABLE:

BOCHUM

Bochum are suffering from a fairly length injury list at present with players such as Matus Bero, Michael Esser, Ivan Ordets and Mohammed Tolba all out for this game. Expect the visitors to line-up with three centre-backs, with both Cristian Gamboa and Danilo Soares given license to roam forward from the wing-back positions.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Riemann; Masovic, Schlotterbeck, Bernardo; Gamboa, Losilla, Forster, Stoger, Soares; Asano, Hofmann

UNAVAILABLE: Bero (Injured), Esser (Injured), Ordets (Injured), Tolba (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

THE PREDICTION

There will be question marks over the mental state of Darmstadt following such a demoralising loss last weekend, but home advantage should help them on that front with their fans set to create another great atmosphere. However, being without two key defenders in Gjasula and Maglica are big blows for the hosts and Bochum could be set to take advantage. The away side are edging closer to that first Bundesliga win, which they should have claimed last weekend. It would be no surprise to see them put that right this time around, so utilise the draw no bet market for extra security back Bochum to claim those all-important three points.

TIP: BOCHUM DRAW NO BET
