THE PREDICTION
Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich get their title defence underway away to Borussia Monchengladbach, who despite a memorable Champions League campaign last season ultimately ended up missing out on the European places this time round, finishing in eighth-place. It will be interesting to see how Bayern fare under new head coach Julian Nagelsmann who has joined the club from RB Leipzig alongside centre-back Dayot Upamecano. The 22-year-old is expected to be a mainstay of Nagelsmann’s defence this season, but it may take time for him to hit top form as he adjusts to his new teammates. With that in mind, whilst Bayern should still emerge with three points here when taking into account the class of their midfield and of course the mercurial Robert Lewandowski upfront, it would not be a surprise if a very dangerous Monchengladbach side also under a new head coach in Adi Hutter were to find the net here so also consider both teams to score.
