THE PREDICTION
Mainz failed to build on their impressive win over RB Leipzig two weeks ago as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Stuttgart last Friday, which left them seven points from safety. It was the sixth time in their last nine league outings that the 05ers have failed to score, and they will be without Robin Quaison - their joint top scorer on two goals following Jean-Philippe Mateta’s departure - along with new signing Robert Glatzel for this one. Union Berlin are not playing quite as well as they were earlier in the season but Urs Fischer’s side are still picking up points, and held Borussia Monchengladbach to a draw last time out. They also boast the third-best defensive record in the Bundesliga, so a low-scoring win for the visitors could be on the cards here.
