THE PREDICTION
It was another excellent campaign for RB Leipzig last time out as they finished third once again and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League – an amazing achievement for a club only founded in 2009. Their biggest challenge this season will be replacing the goals of the now departed Timo Werner but new signing Hwang Hee-chan staked his claim with a debut goal in the DFB-Pokal last weekend and Julian Nagelsmann’s side expected to perform well once again this season. The two meetings between these sides last season were emphatically in favour of Leipzig who won 0-5 away and 8-0 at home so Mainz will be all too aware of the threat posed by them. Werner scored a hat-trick in both of those encounters and Mainz will be glad to see the back of him but it is nevertheless likely to be a comfortable home win for Leipzig here.
