THE TEAM NEWS
BORUSSIA MONCHENGLADBACH
- Borussia Monchengladbach took a giant leap towards securing Champions League football next season as they leapfrogged Bayer Leverkusen into fourth spot thanks to a 1-3 success at Paderborn.
- Patrick Herrmann gave Gladbach an early lead but they were pegged back less than 10 minutes into the second half, although Lars Stindl struck from the spot soon after before he notched a second to seal the win in the final 20 minutes.
- Gladbach will still be missing some key players for this vital contest in which they need to earn a point to seal fourth thanks to their superior goal difference but they could once again be light up front with Alassane Plea still a doubt.
HERTHA
- Hertha brought their losing streak to a halt at three matches as they earned an eye-catching victory over Bayer Leverkusen with that win giving them the chance to end the season with a place in the top half of the table.
- Matheus Cunha gave Hertha the lead midway through the first half before Dodi Lukebakio doubled their lead less than 10 minutes into the second period and they were able to repel everything their opponents threw at them.
- Hertha’s win was all the more impressive considering they were without a host of players and that will be the case again for their final game of the season with Lukas Klutner joining that list after he picked up his fifth booking of the campaign last week.
THE PREDICTION
Hertha will end the season having had a huge say in which side
finishes in the final Champions League spot. They defeated Bayer
Leverkusen last week to end a three-match losing run and now face the
side that benefited from that victory. Borussia Monchengladbach will
hope to avoid the same fate as their rivals, especially as a point will
likely be enough to secure their place in the top four. Both teams have
plenty of players missing in this last game of the season but it is rare
for either side to not score so there should be goals at either end.
